The story behind the idea
I'm going to read it out for you in a minute, and the particular value today is it will help guide you into how you can pray for family and friends and anyone in your life who is hurting. You can do everything in your power to help them, and you should, but your power is nothing compared to the name of Jesus. There is nothing greater you can do for another than praying for him to be active in their life. First, just a quick word on a trip that I'm hoping to take.
What stands out
I pray miracles over your life in Jesus' name, in Jesus' name. There may be some language in this song that you're not used to, like speaking the name of Jesus over someone, but all you're really asking is for the authority of the Lord to be present and active in the life of someone else.
Why it matters
I can pray for things that only God can provide healing, changed circumstances, calmed fears, opened doors and miracles. With God all things are possible, and the workings of Him are supernatural by definition.
A faithful way forward
Sometimes the best thing we can do for someone is not just pray over them and for them, but tell them how strongly we believe in the power of God when we pray. People need to know from James 1 that if we are praying great things from God, but we don't believe that He will do them, then they will not be done. I'm convinced a great many prayers go unanswered because they were not prayed with all in full surrender, absolute belief in God. God may tell you no on your behalf or someone else's because it's not his time.
Put it into practice
For people in your life who may not be sick or in pain, but spiritually are struggling, and the world is distancing them from God. I pray for revival, for restoration of faith, and I pray that they believe that a life committed to Jesus' name will also be raised eternally by that same authority. Let me give you a couple of concluding thoughts on prayer. In your own personal, private prayer life, say in Jesus' name, more often than just at the end.
