The story behind the idea

Before I can ask myself, who am I and what do I want? Where am I going, I need to first determine what do I think, feel, and believe about God. Nothing defines your identity and how you will live your life more than that.

What stands out

I fully understand as you're listening, that may be who you are. I'm going to run you through a few questions and your answers should be consistent with that. I think most of us will say, it is who I'm trying to be.

Why it matters

Is that not the coolest thing that you'll hear all day? Discover in yourself what your life would be like if that's exactly how you thought, and where it is, praise God for his help and seek to deepen it. If you took all the mandatory thoughts of work and so forth out of the equation, and every time there was a moment to think of whatever I wanted, and you added all that up, what would be the first and most dominant thing on my mind?

A faithful way forward

It cannot be used for fun, it cannot be used for sewer repair. It can only be used to help people, to spread the gospel, to put food in someone's mouth, or to get somebody through a hard time. Jesus said, where your treasure is, your heart will be there also. We might add, how you use your treasures says a lot about our hearts as well.

Put it into practice

Are these people who love God most, who use their time well, and who are investing in heavenly things? It could have gone anywhere in the list, but I find it to be maybe the most fascinating kind of sidebar, and that is what do we laugh at?

Think about it
