The story behind the idea
This is our first real substantive thing I'd like for you to think about and remember.
What stands out
Your brain, in order to protect you, will naturally give more attention to potential threats, fear, criticism, danger, failure, rejection, things that will rock your world. Your brain treats them as urgent because historically, missing a threat could cost your life. Positive things are nice to have, but negative things you must not overlook. So we end up finding them all the time and thinking about them and almost romanticizing negatively how bad it can be.
Why it matters
You have to keep reminding yourself who you are in Christ. You have to keep reminding yourself how loved you are and how capable you are and how God is and might be using you over and over again. At the end here of the episode, I'm going to tell you, I journal every day.
A faithful way forward
You replace I don't belong here with I am God's workmanship and God has placed me here. I can't just look at my situation and think I'm ill-equipped and I don't belong.
Put it into practice
Yeah, there are negative things in life that just aren't any fun that you have to do. Write it down under your frog list and knock it out, but process it as a normal part of a positive day, not a negative element that sinks everything.
Take the idea with you.
