The story behind the idea
If God can do a thousand things in your life today, in you, around you, through you, for you, but you only believe that he can do three, then the way I see it, best case today, God will do three things for you, probably more like zero. You can become the limit to how God works in your life through unbelief. You must ask in faith when you ask God for wisdom, because the one who does not ask in faith, that's not some accomplishment level of yours earning a credit with God.
What stands out
If you do, he is faithful and righteous to forgive that sin. That is God acting in your life, and you're cleansed and you're made whole. Here's the thing the word of God is a part of that in that the word teaches you, 1 John 1, 7 through 9. It instructs you about the greater thing that God can do.
Why it matters
You take what you learned and you place the popcorn bag in the microwave and it does incredible things. This is an absolutely atrocious example, by the way, because I'm comparing God to a microwave.
A faithful way forward
If God does something special for someone or in someone, isn't that partiality? Not in a sinful way, because God did that for centuries with dozens of people, where he chose them and worked in them or did things upon them to bring about results. If you go through the New Testament, and again, the sermon on YouTube, Lindell Church of Christ, can give you more detail. If you go through passages like Acts 10, where it talks about God does not show partiality, that's more about saving a whole swath of people because of their nationality and condemning a whole group of people because they're Gentiles, that would be partiality.
Put it into practice
This text talks about being strengthened by the Spirit in the inner man. Verse 17, about Christ dwelling in your hearts through faith, being grounded in love, comprehending the truth. There are beautiful things that you're asking for God to do.
