What to remember
I could hit you with facts like, we are the temple of God, and one stone shouldn't be hurting the other stone, it'll tear down the house and Jesus will.
Jesus has sat down at the right hand of his father, having served his purposes and represented like a great son would the character of his father.
We try to kind of quantify the information, come up with really important divine ideas, and make sure we can memorize them.
Key Scriptures
Genesis 1Revelation 22Hebrews 2Hebrews 1

The story behind the idea

He would frequently, I think, if my memory serves, reference Jesus in that role, that relationship as our older brother. I know he told me at least two or three times that gentlemen, usually older gentlemen in the church, approached him over the years and said that they were uncomfortable with that language. Maybe because it isn't exactly stated that way in Scripture, though Hebrews 2 is going to get really, really close, probably because it wasn't the normal kind of accepted language and titles that we use for Jesus, many of which come straight from Scripture and are amazing.

What stands out

We try to learn to serve each other because we are close and abiding relatives, and that means something to us. Sure, those truths do come up at times, and we all have our moments where we fall short and have to be reminded about things, but but it's just so personal and emotional, our connection, how we feel about each other, that the pieces just naturally fit.

Why it matters

I can't even recall how many times I've spent whole quarters teaching it. We try to kind of quantify the information, come up with really important divine ideas, and make sure we can memorize them.

A faithful way forward

When he had made purification of sins, he sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high. Jesus has sat down at the right hand of his father, having served his purposes and represented like a great son would the character of his father.

Put it into practice

You need to know who he is to you and who you are to him and how he has invited you to participate as adopted children in the family of our God. I will shortcut this last bit, but chapter three, when he goes into this idea that Jesus is greater than Moses, the point is what Jesus built, he created and he constructed and he protects.

Think about it

Take the idea with you.
