The story behind the idea
Next in line is not that person that I see at the supermarket. The next most important and influential relationship is with the people that I share a home with. The things that I do and say matter to them, and their conduct matters to me. Also the way that we do all of that and how we handle each other and work through our issues is part of setting ourselves up to be more influential for the rings that come after it.
What stands out
We linked that to some terminology a month or so back in terms of missions of mercy. I know my purpose, I'm on a mission to reflect the great light of Jesus and the hope of the Holy Spirit into the lives of others.
Why it matters
I will carry it into every part of how I deal with the people that I love.
A faithful way forward
If that doesn't work, you find all of the believers that know you both and you try to win your brother. You are approaching them, perhaps even confronting them, in the proper method of love and for the proper purpose of seeing them find their way.
Put it into practice
We've talked about all of this in a previous episode in terms of missions of mercy to the world. Jesus told this amazing story about a man who was forgiven 10,000 talents, billions of dollars worth of debt. That same guy goes out and finds someone who owes him three months' wages and begins to strangle the guy because he can't repay him.
