What to remember
As you go about your day, your habits, the people you interact with, the way you process life, just remember to answer one question.
Share with someone what you're learning from the Word of God, serve in a ministry somewhere that requires interaction and really initiate spiritual conversations.
That's a plus, but I need to be careful lest I effectively become God by projecting my angles upon him and others.
Key Scriptures
Proverbs 17

The story behind the idea

I have more to say about that and a lot more, and it will be in next week's episode. There will also be a sermon around the same time at the Lindell Church called Do Not Judge Your Brother, and you can pick up more information there. Today I want to talk about why you lean one way over the other. There are lots of variables we will not talk about today, like just background and experiences and how you've seen scripture and all those kinds of things.

What stands out

You picture a God who might be frustrated with you if you have condemned someone who is in fact saved, but a little bit proud of you for drawing very stern lines. On the other hand, if you or I are someone who leans towards perception, our comfort zone is to be more careful on judgment, to be more merciful.

Why it matters

It's understanding that all of that is playing into the way you read scripture, the way you think about God, and many other things, which ought to automatically say, God built me that way. That's a plus, but I need to be careful lest I effectively become God by projecting my angles upon him and others. All right, really quickly, this may sound like gobbledygoop the first time through. When I was reading about it the first time, I was like, I don't think this is gonna help at all.

A faithful way forward

If you suppress it, I think in one of the books I was reading, a guy said, here's a truth guy, a practical head guy who preaches the sermons, and yet he's got a girl on the side. He doesn't know how to handle the emotional part because he suppressed it in his life.

Put it into practice

If, on the other hand, you are mainly introverted, then be sure you verbally pray with other people. Share with someone what you're learning from the Word of God, serve in a ministry somewhere that requires interaction and really initiate spiritual conversations. If you're going to get out of your comfort zone, make it worth it.

Think about it

Take the idea with you.

  1. 01What idea from this study most needs my attention right now?
  2. 02Where does this challenge the way I am currently thinking or living?
  3. 03What is one faithful step I can take this week?
