What to remember
One thing I've learned over the years is the best way for the program to grow is for friends to tell people how valuable it's been for them.
It's not about changing lives to serve his purpose and be a part of his kingdom.

The story behind the idea

They made some good comments in the circle and also afterwards about how they're not founding their faith on the recent forefathers. They are genuinely just diving into the scriptures, trying to find out what godly faith looks like. I think sometimes the recent history of churches gets pushed on them and it pushes them away.

What stands out

Worship is about praising God for what is true in Christ, sharing in that walk with believers and inviting others to it. There is emotion in that, there is intentionality, there is heart and purpose and joy. I think this is probably why those 40 and under really like sitting in a circle.

Why it matters

Most of the members wanted to stop the club's life-saving activities, for they were unpleasant and a hindrance to the normal fellowship of the members. Other members insisted that life saving was their primary purpose and pointed out that they were still called, you know, a life-saving station. They were finally voted down and told that if they wanted to save the lives of all those various kinds of people who would be shipwrecked, they could begin their own life saving station down the coast.

A faithful way forward

They, these new Christians, young Christians, less experienced Christians, would champion the idea that being a life-saving station is so much more important than how you dress it up. If you're not careful, you dress it up so much that you don't want to save lives for risk of the mess that they may bring into the club.

Put it into practice

It's not about changing lives to serve his purpose and be a part of his kingdom. That in the context, self-centeredness, a lack of evangelistic spirit, that would be violating the pattern.

Think about it
