What to remember
One thing I've learned over the years is the best way for the program to grow is for friends to tell people how valuable it's been for them.
Our first point says Jesus looks after his church, his people, those who've been spiritually appraised in his likeness.
Key Scriptures
Romans 131 Peter 21 Corinthians 92 Timothy 2

The story behind the idea

We were starting the fourth year of a Republican presidency, which most of the people who live around here tend to vote that way. Even if you'd voted the other way, things had gone along without too much explosiveness, and we were just beginning an election year, but it was really, really early, so not a lot had really ramped up just yet. I'm not even close to remembering why I thought it was important to talk to the Lindell Fellowship about basic biblical concepts related to authority at that time.

What stands out

File that statement under things that more people say than actually believe. It is very popular and accepted to say, yes, Jesus is our Lord and he watches over his people and he'll take care of us. It is another thing entirely to live at peace because you believe that, and share that with others as your reason why you behave as you do.

Why it matters

Our first point says Jesus looks after his church, his people, those who've been spiritually appraised in his likeness. The second point says he also has control and sight over and the ability to influence anyone, anywhere, any nation, any government, any time. To me, this opens up our security and peace, because you might say, okay, Kris, Christ is on Mount Zion with his church, and that group of people is protected.

A faithful way forward

That same man with the sword cutting off the ear of the guy also wrote this in first Peter chapter two and verse eleven. Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.

Put it into practice

Please keep in mind this means praying thanksgiving to God for sparing the Republican candidate's life, and it includes prayers that our current Democratic president will recover fully from COVID-19. We noted briefly in Romans 13 that local governments are established to protect the innocent, and this is why the abortion issue for me is such a huge thing when governments stop protecting those that can't protect themselves, then they don't have usage to God.

Think about it

Take the idea with you.
