The story behind the idea
I have frequently said, please think about more than just yourself. Jesus, then others, the people around you, partake, remember his body, and then look around.
What stands out
I would imagine those people, and particularly later as they were gathered into small groups in certain times to be fed, would be talking about all different things. Even the presenting of the sermon there is good and fine. Don't you know Jesus could have just done that to be efficient?
Why it matters
Yeah, we use it in worship when a leader is presenting it to the people, but we need to be talking about him with one another. Spiritual growth thrives in circles because it thrives in conversation.
A faithful way forward
We realize our questions that we have in our mind are not foolish and that there's a lot of commonality.
Put it into practice
You remember that verse, Matthew 18, 20, where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them? That text isn't necessarily about needing a plurality of people for Jesus to show up. Where two or three agree in that text, where they go, this is what God wants us to do, God is with them in that agreement.
