The story behind the idea

Lord, I'm saying amazing things about you today because you've done amazing things for me. I'm praising you, I'm obviously praising you because I look at my life and I'm like, look at all of the ways that God has shown his love for me. If this becomes all we are doing or the basis upon which we connect to God, what happens when those blessings seem far away? What happens when health and safety and life here isn't what it was?

What stands out

Some of them talked about a testing of our faith, like test our real relationship with God by having us suffer the loss of things that we generally and genuinely are thankful for. There were some great comments about how we live in a fallen world.

Why it matters

Less emphasis on you and what you've gotten and what you're getting and what you want, and more emphasis on the great God who is over everything.

A faithful way forward

One of the things you would need to do in Psalm 148, of course, is just change the pronouns and direction just a little bit.

Put it into practice

They are thanking him, but they're doing it through the lens of you are the strength. You can do all things, and it is your hand of glory that has accomplished this.
