The story behind the idea
I hope that you understand that, and maybe we need to talk more about it because that is the same concept that needs to be applied to everything you're working on. If you're working on things with your finances or your job, you're working on things with your family or with other relationships, you're working on things with your health and your physical life here. When you can learn to set goals and work in that direction without becoming crazy busy, you will find joy in the journey, you will do better in that journey, and incur more wonderful outcomes.
What stands out
Though it is amazing how he was able to make important decisions, to space those things out, to have prayer and rest in the appropriate places. Jesus had this ability to say no to clearly important things like healing people in a village because more importantly, he needed to go on to the next village. I would say he was busy, but he did not overschedule.
Why it matters
He quoted John the Baptist's words who said, I freely confess that I am not the Christ. John was doing what he could do to the best of his abilities, in a way that helped people and pleased God. It was not his job to do all of the things that Jesus could do.
A faithful way forward
The sobering truth is you can't do something for everyone. In fact, in your life, God will put people right in front of you and he'll say, look, do something for them. Like in those categories I mentioned a minute ago, you may have very limited opportunity to make a difference there, or you would have to abandon important pursuits in your present life in order to attend to them. It's okay if you can't do that, but it doesn't mean that we don't care.
Put it into practice
As we close this thing out, let me advise you in a couple of simple ways. From two weeks ago, you were asked to make a reverse bucket list so that you can assess what next year should be about. You need to make a short list of what matters most to you in the world. Do you think you could list out your top priority and one or two things that fall beneath it?
Take the idea with you.
