The story behind the idea
One, I would love for you to get to experience the journal and for us to expand the audience for that. Also, I'm trying to find out in terms of algorithms how much input we need early on so that when the devotional is ready, we'll know the best way to launch that well.
What stands out
Let me just ask you whether you're familiar with that event or it's your first time to hear about it, what do you think we should do with it? How do I read that chapter and say, okay, here's what I need to learn from that? Usually, as with David and Goliath, we lean into ourselves and not in a selfish way, just an applicational way. How do I compare what David did to what I do and what lessons do I learn?
Why it matters
He certainly doesn't come to us and say, do these exact three things and I will relent in this exact way. We often don't even know if bad things that are happening to us are consequences of sin, nor do we know if any particular behavior will cause them to change.
A faithful way forward
We made the note that with David God is angry with the people, and with King Jesus God was angry at mankind's sin, at Israel's sin, and sometimes at ours. While David responded with his own sin, Christ responded in righteousness.
Put it into practice
I'm talking about being the king, being the prophet, being the offering. Every part of 2 Samuel 24 that is good and is of God is perfected in who Jesus is. What's the application of that after I have stated that I am thankful for King Jesus?
