The story behind the idea
Immorality is the impure, unclean use of your physical body, your vessel. We could certainly word the big three as commands in a positive way and say, love God, love your neighbor, and be morally pure. Somehow, and for some reason, Christians do a better job of locking down the don'ts.
What stands out
Once other things, entertainment, sports, family, career become more important than time with God or serving God or bringing others to God, it becomes a life habit that's really hard to break. Once you're justified and being constantly upset with someone, that's really hard to change.
Why it matters
Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, he said, We serve God and God alone, not you, not myself, not anyone else. You might remember in Matthew chapter six, he talked about how you can't serve two masters.
A faithful way forward
The greatest idol of their time and our time is the person you see in the mirror while you're brushing your teeth. I'm going to go out and do what I want to do and enjoy life how I want to enjoy it. God can be there as long as he stays in the backseat.
Put it into practice
Carry some cards for the church where you worship, or a few Bibles around in the car, or something where you can say, I want to tell you what's most important in my life. Use your lips to reveal what matters most to you, and I pray and hope that it's God. Later he talks to them about their love for one another.
