The story behind the idea
Just to be clear, we're not just talking about people without proven character who have some special ability or voice or amount of money. I'm talking about people in your life who are truly wonderful and godly and then may happen to have those sets of skills or abilities. When we talk about impressive, what I'm saying is they are really, really good at something or really successful in something that means something to you. I know I'm giving you a ton of caveats and restrictions here, but just hang with me a minute.
What stands out
He connected every facet of his life to ministry work, to sharing the name of Jesus, to proclaiming his value in this world.
Why it matters
Like he had all kinds of issues from his own mistakes, we all have those, to a lot of really severe mistreatment. His challenges conditioned him to put more faith in Jesus and his grace than in mankind and their judgments. That also was impressive to me that he has used all of the wounds to see that Jesus is the only healer who will never harm you.
A faithful way forward
Number one, because they are glorifying God to the best of their ability, and that brings joy into my life, as I know it does for you. Two, these guys serve as role models for me, goals that have real life activity so that I can follow them and try to do better. The tip for this is not have them out to coffee and pour out your bucket that you're jealous and you're upset and you've wasted your life, and how do I be like you?
Put it into practice
Do you think you could do that with people who are impressive in special ways in your life? If you do this, you need to know there are a few things you're going to find, and you may not like them.
