The story behind the idea

I just wonder, looking across the country and at local churches and participation in even Sunday worship, but also interactions throughout the week and the way technology has affected this and how busy everyone has gotten, have we forgotten what God built? In Revelation 1, Jesus shed his blood and he died, but it was to make us a people, a nation, a kingdom, a family that operates as a family.

What stands out

I hope you're not so prideful as to say that listening to a sermon once a week and reading your Bible in the morning means you are getting all the truth you need in every way that you need it. God uses people, friendships, love, and relationships as tools to carry out that truth. The good work God has for us to do is very often the work that we do helping one another. He and I talked about how at home you can watch sermons, you can sing, you can pray, you can give, you can do all those things, but you would be missing out on the power of the people.

Why it matters

I often tell this a little funny, it's not that funny, but I was a big, fearful guy when it came to door knocking. I was preaching down in Beaumont, and there was this idea we were just going to kind of go to these people and knock on their door, and I was just kind of scared. I mean, everybody's got dogs, you know, and I don't, I'm just not a huge fan of big mean dogs.

A faithful way forward

What are practical, meaningful ways that you can invest yourself more with God's people?

Put it into practice

Again, going back to the last list, maybe people do need to change. You don't come in and tell them to change and say, well, I did God's will.

Think about it

Take the idea with you.
