The story behind the idea

I'm convinced that sometimes parents are a part of the underachieving problem for their young people. This goes up into their youth being even in their 20s or 30s. Sometimes parents make excuses for their kids, they bend the rules for their kids, they really tell them that look, this is what you're supposed to do, and this is what you need to do, but if you don't do it, it's fine.

What stands out

The reason I stand before you today is to share with you baseball people what I've learned in my life, what I've learned about home plate in my 78 years. He says, Do you know how wide home plate is in Little League?

Why it matters

The quality of education is going downhill fast, and teachers have been stripped of the tools they need to be successful and to educate and discipline our young people.

A faithful way forward

He was 91 years old, and he helped a lot of people in his life. I hope we can understand the simplicity of the message. Whether you're a student or a teacher, a child or a parent, wherever you are in that construct, rules have to be set.

Put it into practice

In his career, he struck out five thousand seven hundred and fourteen people. He is the all-time leader in striking people out, and he's in the Hall of Fame. Did you also know that he is the all-time leader in walks?
