The story behind the idea
Jesus, verse 23, said to his disciples, How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God. The disciples were amazed at his words, but Jesus answered again and said to them, Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
What stands out
Because Jesus might look at you and say, You're out, and then disappear, and you'd be left with that without any guidance. I think many of us, not all of us, but many of us would ask a similar question to the rich young ruler.
Why it matters
You and your family get on an airplane, fly to Chile, South America, random choice for the purpose of the illustration. Live in small villages, work odd jobs, learn the language, preach the gospel to those people for the rest of your life.
A faithful way forward
Every doubt, every fear, every question erased, not because I'm somehow better than I would have been, or stronger, or more knowledgeable, or made out of better stuff, but because all things are possible with God. In this case, with God the Son, with the Father's love, with the Son's protection, with the Holy Spirit's guidance. My question to you isn't, what would you do with the money? Or kind of application-wise, you're not going to be asked to give everything, but will you go out and do something today?
Put it into practice
What I want to ask you to do here with regard to your money or how you would answer Jesus or what you're doing with your life is just please ask for God's help.
